Wilderness First Responder. Wilderness First Responder is a course designed for Rescuers who specialize in decision-making, evacuation, and transport in a remote or wilderness setting. The course is suitable for those who work in remote emergency services, remote worksites, ski patrol, search and rescue, and similar.
This course is taught in challenging outdoor environments with varied terrain and risk levels. Participants are responding as part of a designed team in a targeted capacity where survival may be compromised. Participants learn skills and strategies for urgent evacuation and, at times, extended care for 5+ days.
Participants will focus on key learning concepts including leadership skills, the expectation to provide care, the use of a professional tool kit and resources, patient extrication and rescue decision-making.
