This course includes First Aid & CPR/AED BLS Guidelines 2018 and meets OHS regulations for Professional Responders. The course is designed to meet the National Occupational Competency Profiles for the practitioner level of Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) established by the Paramedic Association of Canada (PAC). It provides the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until the next level of health care takes over.

Course Details:

  • Emergency Medical Responder certification = 80 hours
  • EMR Upgrade (Bridge) = 40-44 hour course with flexible scheduling options (Upgrade from First Responder)
  • Must have First Responder to take EMR Upgrade (Bridge)
  • 3-year certification as Emergency Medical Responder
  • Includes CPR Level BLS
  • Includes AED (Automated External Defibrillation) certification
  • Conducted by a certified Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder Instructor

Prerequisites:

CPR/AED Level C is mandatory, but it is recommended that participants have completed a Standard First Aid + CPR/AED course.
Those doing an upgrade to the EMR level must have a current Red Cross First Responder.
Recommended for those in emergency response, including Firefighters, Police, EMS personnel, OPT (or equivalent) personnel and workplace response teams.
